    Hey Billy,

Saw your post on 2cool. I have visited your old site in the past but this is a major improvement. I would only suggest that you give your customers the opportunity to post thier catches in a photo gallery on the site. There is nothing that saless a good product more than customer testimonials w/ pictures to back it up. I’ve always enjoyed looking at photos that testify to how great a product is. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts. Happy fishing!

    • Marcus–and everyone…if you have some good BillyStiX photos, email them to us with a few words and we’ll get them posted. Best email is empypockts@aol.com Images should be in JPG format, about 4×6 inches at 72 DPI

I fish the bays of south central Texas mainly for Speckled trout and Redfish. For trout, I prefer a 1/16 jig head with a bass assasin attached. I’m looking for a spinning rod that will throw that jig a mile. I’d also like it to be able to handle Redfish. What would you recommend and what would be a ballpark price?

    Thanks,
    John

This site is fantastic, just like me rod you built me. I have enjoyed fishing with this rod more than any other rod I have ever used. With just one of your rods it is difficult to grab a different rod to cast with. Sure would like to win one of those free rod contests.

Not sure how you can improve this site any better other than show some pictures of work in progress, Would not want you to give away any of your secrets though.

Its cool to follow you and all your customers on 2coolfishing.

Again, Thank yo for a rod well built,

    Andy

Anyways, how bout a redfish ‘SPOTS’ fishing contest for a month or so. Post a picture of you with a BillyStix and one side of the redfish, showing the spots. Winner gets ????? Just a thought.
PS: Please don’t start the contest before October. That’s when I’ll be home and get my WaderStix!

    hi bruce
sorry about the delay in responding to your inquiry, but i somehow missed your contact.
any way the best thing for you to do is to give me a call at 352 377 5894 for your rod need’s and you will get the personal service that you need when it come’s to having the perfect custom rod built for that special fishing adventure, i would recomed a 6ft6 rather than the one you had asked about, but of course if this is what you want and need then by golly it’s a go, many rod length’s to choose from from billystix custom rod’s.
looking forward to working with you on your new custom “spiralstix” please feel free to give me a call at any time for personal service. “”customer service ” priority one.

    • Billy,
my name is mike mclaughlin in houston, tx. In october
my wife purchased a rod from you and i am finally getting around to getting
it done. My wife was feferred to you by Jeff McMath and he showed me
some of your work. Preety impressive. I usually throw a 6.6 castaway or
a 6.6 all-star 10mx. Both are medium action. As far as design goes I really like
the stars and bars maybe coupled with my namesake scottish plaid. Look
      forward to hearing from you.

Billy, we spoke about a week ago. We fish texas coastal waters for big trout and reds and I need a rod for my wife. We discussed pink and purple. I want her name on it which is Cora Kay. I want the state of Texas on it also. 6’9″ will be perfect. I want a speck on it of course. What are some other options? I know you said something about three lines. another question, are all of your bay rods spiral?

    April 9, 2012 at 4:23 pm

  17. topwaterncorkies

Billy, finally got logged on since we talked a few weeks ago. Been fishin’. We fish Texas gulf coast waters mainly for big trout, reds, and flounder. Totally artificial. I spoke to you a while back for a rod for my wife, the mainly pink with purple highlights. 6′ 9″ would be perfect. I want her name on it, which is Cora Kay. I want the state of Texas on it and a speck. What are some of the other options for this style rod? Are all of your bay rods spiral?

At first I will admit, I was extremely skeptical about the idea, but after talking with him over the phone I became more and more convinced, in that I needed to give it a try. So I ordered it. While Billy was building the rod, my “skeptical feelings” started coming back, and I started thinking… “Did I really need to buy that rod?” But regardless of those feelings I anxiously awaited the arrival of the rod. Once I received the rod I couldn’t believe how awesome it was. I immediate started comparing it to my other wadestix. It felt just as light, looked just as good, and the action was unbelievable for a three piece rod. The one thing I really loved about the rod… You cant tell that its a breakaway rod unless you really really look into it. The sensitivity is just as good, as any of my one piece rods, and it has plenty of backbone, as I’ve already caught plenty of over sized trout and reds on it. The fact that I take this rod every time I’m on the boat, and everywhere I go in my truck, makes it worth much much more than what he is selling them for. You really need to do yourself a favor and give this rod a try. If anyone in the Corpus area wants to check mine out to see if you want one, give me a shout and well hook up.

Thanks again Billy for building me another awesome rod

  22. thank’s chris for your imput on the 3 pc rod that i am currently building, yes it is a truly very nice & usable waderstix as well as any type fishing that you might be wanting to do, the one you have selected is a med lite with a fast tip ideal for soft plastic & small top water bait’s, i have another one that is a med action that also has a fast tip that i would recomend for red fish for sure, if you wade fishing the surf or fishing the jetty’s this 3 pc rod would work out great, another point to think about is what if you are a person that travel’s & you are not sure where or what you might encounter on said trip you do not want a wuss rod due to being in a part of the country that you might have very limited knowledge of the fishery at hand! then this rod would be ideal as it would handle a variety of fish & be able to take care of bidness per say.
also these 3 pc rods store nicely “”30 inches”” completed.

I fish Waterloo slammags 6’9 to 7 ft with 50e an braid, change my mind and I’ll be loyal customer! Wade for trout south Texas style throw corkys, spook jr. an flapping shad most of time? Except flounder fish with gulp 2 in. Curly tail an 1/8 gighead summer! So far slammags been best for my style sorta light strong blank batson rain shadow I think 842? Not guide love to fish to much to ruin it by making work out of it! I chunck alot so light is good thing I’m getting old cant chunk ambassador an 8 ft castaways like i use too! My fav now is pacbay 2 piece seat r fugi sk2 with hapalon split grip chunky i have bigger hands an 6’10 ish with recoil guides what i use now! Far as pretty don’t care match 50e r just black but strong an light N right action matters most

    Billy,

I’m looking for a custom rod for a bait caster, 6’6″-6′-9″. I really like the blue and black 6’9″ you posted on Galveston saltwater fishing. If that one is sold, I would like to ask you about making a red and black one possibly. Texas Tech colors.

I really admire your work and would like to purchase a rod in the very near future.

Again, thank you for your time and I look forward to buying a custom rod from you. Happy thanksgiving!

I purchased a 13 concept TX and looking for a matching rod. I am not a very artistic person so not really sure what I want. After looking at your website it looks like you know what I want. I mostly fish for slot reds, trout, and flounder. I am looking for a med heavy 6’10” to 7′ rod. Does that sound about right to you? Mabye a white rod with black and sea foam thread to match reel. Not really a picky person so if you got a better plan let me know. I can always add trick kit to add another color. I also like the split Winn grips. Not sure what color. If this sounds like something you would be interested in building I would love to have one. I just want something the Boys will be jealous of!!!!!

I received one of your rods in a tournament. I finally rigged it up to use it and it appears to have a couple of problems. One of the eyes goes to the right instead of to the left to the underside of the blank. In addition, no matter how far you tighten the reel down it pops out of the handle. I’ve tried three different reels all with the same results.

Any chance I can swap this out for a different rod?

    Thanks,
