Custom Fishing Rods

A Welcome From BillyStiX Custom FIshing Rods

Billy McDaniel has been building BillyStiX Custom Fishing Rods for about 50 years. A Florida native and fisherman himself, Billy understands the needs of his customers.

BillyStiX Rods are built one at a time, and are hand-wrapped and fitted to your particular needs.

It is for this reason that Billy insists that each new rod buyer come by for a personal consultation and discussion of his or her rod needs.

Molly, Brandi and I look forward to your call!

Billy this is the best rod by far that I have ever had. Sure makes it hard having to throw one of the other rods in the boat. Maybe Santa will bring me another rod this year. I have been a good boy this year!
Thank you for a great rod,
    Andy

I really like the new site Billy. I’ve had my Billystix for about 2yrs and am still impressed with it. The best rod I’ve ever owned. This was my 1st custom rod and now the store bought rods just don’t feel right. You built my rod to my specs which makes it perfect for me. Thanks for the professional curtiousy & craftmanship that you gave me.

    Billy,
I love looking at your site and the rods even look good too, can’t wait to have one of my own.

Site Feedback: I would suggest going with a different font / background color as the light gray and white may be a little hard for some people to see. The lines across the screen are a little distracting as well, since they seem to move and flow with the page and do not stay in one locatoin. I would also suggest that at some point you place a Prducts page that clearly defines each specific type of rod that you custom make, then maybe hyperlink it to examples of that specific product. One last thing is maybe a seperate page for customers where they can look through the different artwork options available to jazz up their stix.

    • Daniel…not sure what ‘lines’ you’re writing about. We’re investigating changing the type size. What size monitor are you looking at? As you probably know, every BillyStix rod is different, so it’s hard to show the entire catalog. Best bet is talk directly with Billy when you get ready to order. He wants to discuss your needs and style with you before you buy, anyway. Same for art on rods.

Stix, I am on a 24″ monitor and definately see white and gray line on the page as I scroll down. Agree that is the best way, and the way I did business with Billy, but maybe more visual graphics may cause someone that wouldn’t have originally. Break them into categories, like Offshore: product 1, 2, 3 etc; then Inshore: Wade stix, kayak stix, spiral stix etc.

  8. Daniel..this actually isn’t Billy, but Tommy. I do the photos and the site. If you’re talking about the white lines between the comments, I can’t do anything about that. We’re using a WordPress template that automatically puts those lines between the comments. Otherwise, I don’t see any lines. As for other pages, I’ll consider.

It’s been several years since I got a new Billy Stix…might just have to order one!

    HI EVERY ONE!!
THIS IS STIX, I JUST GOT THE HANG OF DOING THIS, IT REALLY TOOK SOME BRAIN POWER ON MY PART TO FIGURE IT OUT, TO TOTALLY HONEST I JUST GOT LUCKY!!
I JUST WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VISIT ME AND MOLLY AND BRANDI AND OF COURSE LOOKING OVER THE SITE, I ALSO WANT TO THANK MY BUDDY TOMMY FOR TAKING THE TIME TO UP GRADE THE SITE FOR ME, AT THIS TIME THIS IS GOING TO BE ALL WE CAN DO TO FURTHER THE LOOK’S AND THE UPGRADES FOR NOW, TOMMY HAS TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE VARIOUS THING’S THA GOES INTO BUILDING A SITE AND SOME I UNDERSTAND AND SOIME I DO NOT, BUT FOR HIS SAKE LET’S JUST SAY I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO AGREE WITH HIM AND ACCEPT WHAT WE HAVE.
THIS PART RIGHT HERE IS A TOTAL AWESOME THING AS FAR AS I AM CONCERND AND I BELIEVE IT IS GOING TO OPEN THE DOOR TO MANY NEW ARE’S FOR YOU AND FOR ME.
I CANNOT SAY THIS ENOUGH OR LOUD ENOUGH ” IF YOU WANT SERVICE OR A CUSTOM ROD BUILT YOU MUST GIVE ME A CALLL ” BECAUSE I WILL NOT EVER BUILD A CUSTOM ROD BY USING MODEL “A” OR MODEL”B” I WANT THE PLEASURE OF BEING ABLE TO DISCUSS WITH YOU THE OWNER OY THE BILLYSTIX CUSTOM ROD ALL THE POSSIBILITIES THAT GOES INTO YOUR CUSTOM ROD, THERE ARE MANY THING’S THAT I CAN TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN IN PERSON THAT I CAN NOT POST ON THE SITE AND EXPECT FOR YOU THE CLIENT TO UNDERSTAND “EXAMPLE THE GUIDES” HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED THAT THE GUIDES ARE WRAPPED BEYOND THE GUIDE FOOT ??? IF I POSTED THAT ON THE SITE WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANT OR WOULD SAY BIG DEAL, WELL BY GOD IT IS A BIG DEAL AFTER I TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN TO YOU “WHY” THEN YOU BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR NEW BILLYSTIX CUSTOM ROD IS ALL ABOUT “QUALITY AND SERVICE” WOULD YOU UNDERSTAND IF I SAID ON THE SITE “NO MO ROD SLAP”?? I DOUBT THAT YOU WOULD BUT AFTER I TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THAT THE FIRST GUIDE ON A SPIN ROD HAS TO BE AT A POINT WHERE THE LINE COIL REACHES IT’S SMALL LOOP AND GOES INTO THE FIRST GUIDE, NOW YOU MIGHT BETTER UNDERSTAND.
DO I NEED TO GO INTO FURTHER DETAIL AS TO WHY TALKING WITH THE BUILDER IS A CRITICIAL PART AND THE ONLY PART THAT HAS TO TAKE PLACE IN THE BUILDING OF YOUR NEW CUSTOM BILLYSTIX CUSTOM ROD.
AND LASTLEY YOU WILL NEVER BE RUSHED INTO A ROD BUILD, IT’S ALWAY’S YOUR CHOICE NEVER MY CHOICE.
LOOKING FORWARD TO BUILDING FOR YOU.

Wow. What great looking rods! And the added “scenery” knocked my socks off. Would love to own one of your rods when my feet hit the sands and jetties at South Padre Island next month. Watch out, fish!

Well, first off, the pics of the girls are making me forget why I logged on to this Site. Very nice!
My rod is ordered and I can’t wait to get it and give it a try. I have read SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many great reviews on @Cool about these BillyStixs that I had to try one. I’m sure it will be great. I’ll post up after I have caught a few fish with it and give you my honest opinion.
    Looking forward to October!
Billy, THANKS for your help and advice!

    Billy,

I have to say that your site is a very good one!!!!! By looking at the rods they look like they are some good ones. I have never had a custom rod. I never thought about getting a custom one. I have fished with a Zebco 303 and 808 all my life on hand me down rods. Looks like I need to look into a custom rod for me to use. Again, your web site looks good. Even the lovely ladies sporting them good looking rods.

Keep them hooked up and lines tight.

    Stix,
Really love the Aggie spinning rod you made for me. Quite a work of art. It is a perfect match for the Shimano Stradic 3000. It is light, comfortable and I can work it all day long with no fatigue. Broke it in at Port Mansfield, TX a while back fighting upper slot reds. It worked like a champ. One of the best purchases I have ever made. Anyone considering a new rod should pick up the phone and call Stix. It will be an enjoyable conversation and one you will not likely regret. I will probably never purchase another rod “off the shelf.” Sorry Academy, FTU, etc. I have found a better choice. Thanks Stix!

Billy, really nice website! You made me a custom rod back in 2003. How do I know this? You put my name and the year on the rod–really nice!! My rod also has a flounder decal on it. I thoroughly enjoy using my Billystix rod–wish I could use it every weekend! LOL

What impressed me the most when I ordered my rod was your genuine concern to make me a happy, satisfied customer. You built me a custom rod that I feel is one-of-a-kind. You don’t see that too often these days. It’s one of my most prized material possessions. While all my other rods and reels have their place in the garage, my Billystix rod and Shimano Chronarch SF reel has its own place in the corner of my master bedroom.

Thank you so very much for building me such a great rod.

    Billy,
I really enjoy fishing with my new rods and want everyone to know that thus guy has hands down the best customer service of ANY business i have dealt with. Billy will go above and beyond your exoectations every time. Hes all about pleasing you (the customer) and lives to build these rods. I am a proud owner of two Billystix at this tome but have two more in the works and several more planned out. What more could you ask for in a custom rod? My answer is “nothing” because he will do whatsver it takes to build your dream from the rod blank, reel seat of your choice, all the way down to what EXACT color of thread and decorative patterns you want. The sky is the limit. And if you just want a very conservative rod with simple wraps and no fancy thread work he can do that too! These are not wrapped on a machine, just hand wrapped one at a time! I have to say Billy, those are some good lookin models you have there. Id ride a unicycle to Florida to go fishing with that girl with the dimples! Anyway, do not hesitate to call Billy to discuss what youre looking for in a custom rod, he absolutely eill not let you down!
